i'm tagged!
2. Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.
---------------
~ i am an internet addict, thats why i have a lot of accounts to check and manage every time i surf the net. i have accounts on myspace, youtube, hi5, ringo, hoverspot, imeem, xanga, soundclick, friendster and multiply. i have 10 accounts, and this blog, would be the eleventh.
~ for those who doesn't know yet, i am a choir member. yes, i know how to sing, and a i am a bit knowledgeable of reading notes. more surprising, my voice quality is 'bass.' the bass is the lowest voice quality for men.
~ i am very skinny and thin. i have been teased with such thin things like the match and the barbecue stick. sometimes, i am compared to an animal, it can be a lizard, or a worm.
~ i love photography so much. i adore people who takes photographs really well. if i could have a photography lesson this summer, i would really love to.
~ my family is always on the go when it comes to traveling. we always travel during summer break. the most recent trip we had last summer was pangasinan-la union-baguio trip, where we were able to visit three provinces in 3 days. we were able to swim at the hundred islands, and able to shop at the night market in baguio. that trip was the best local trip we had.
~ in relation to the fifth fact, i only had one trip outside the country, and that would be our Hongkong trip.
~ i am a clumsy and lousy person. i was able to lose my cellphones 4 times. of course, it was replaced. the catch, those phones i lost never reached the half of a year. and that's my challenge, to take care of my phone, and have it for 1 year.
~ i am fond of making photo movies or montages. this was my way to give a gift or to say thank you to someone. i just made a recent one for blockmates.
~ i am into America's Next Top Model right now, and the present cycle, cycle 10, blows me away with their beautiful photoshoots, and awesome judges.
last, but definitely, not the least..
~ i am a childish individual and loves to watch kid's shows, like the backyardigans and disney shows. it makes me relaxed and makes me feel comfortable.
i tag: the first ten to read this blog entry. haha! :D

"the summer of a million tutubis"
nasa dulo to nung magazine.
naaliw ako, kung kaya't, naisip ko xiang ipost dito.:D
enjoy :)
The Summer of a Million Tutubis
by Dino Igancio and Budjette Tan
Her name was Celeste. We met back in the summer of `82.
I was nine years old and she was eight.
She was Rey’s cousin from San Francisco. She came to visit and was the flower girl in Rey’s older sister’s wedding.
It was a hot, dusty summer in Marikina.
We spent it playing in the streets all day and eating halo-halo at Aling Ninding’s store. She would always put more lanka in the halo-halo than Manang Lety from across the street.
Every day after lunch, my Nanay Loleng would make me take a nap until the afternoon sun went away. I would twist and turn in my bed until I was allowed out to meet my friends. It was a true test of patience but it always paid off once I was allowed out.
It was the summer of tutubis.
The summer of the million tutubis.
We must have caught over a hundred of them that day and they just kept on coming. We chased them and put them in jars, and no matter how many holes we punched on the lid they all seemed to die by the next morning.
We wanted to keep them as pets. Give them names. Set them free inside the house and make them fly around as we played with other toys. But they’d always die before we could get them back home. Sometimes we’d breathe into the holes to make sure they had enough air, but that also didn’t work.
It seemed like the summer would never end. But it did.
Aling Ninding stopped serving halo-halo, the tutubis left, the salagubangs came and Celeste went back to San Francisco.
Rey and I still saw each other but slowly grew up and grew apart.
19 years later, I saw Celeste again-- at Rey’s wake.
She was standing outside the chapel smoking one of those thin cigarettes. I went up to her and said, “Hi. Alex --my name is Alex. I was Rey’s old neighbor. From Markina.”
She blinked. Then recognized me. “Yes, I remember. When I came home for Rhonda’s wedding. Wow! How’s it been? Do you still chase tutubi?”
“No, sorry. I stopped doing that. I’m a writer now. I write for the papers. And you? What have you been up to?”
She waved her cigarette in the air as she answered. “A bit of this. A bit of that.”
Her smoke made me cough. I tried to keep our little conversation going. “You know they built a mall in that place where we used to catch tutubis. I still jog there in the morning, when the mall is still closed, and on some months I can still see some tutubis flying around that area.”
Celeste looked away, like she was looking for someone. “Malls. They’re everywhere,” she said.
She took a puff from her cigarette and continued, ”We basically live in malls. We’ll die in malls, you know. I used to work in this mall and everyday I’d see this guy. He wasn’t really a bum. He had money to buy stuff, but he’d make such a big fuss about what to buy. Took him hours trying to figure out if he should buy it or not. He’d get all friendly with all the sales ladies and the guys at the food court. Know them all by name and you’d think they were friends or something, but the guys were just doing their job and being nice to him because he’s a customer. One day, at closing time, they found him in the parking lot, in his car. Turned out he owned a Jaguar. They found him dead in his car. Didn’t really die of carbon monoxide poisoning. He just died. Like his heart just stopped beating. Like he just decide to one day quit it all.”
She dropped what was left of her cigarette to the ground and stepped on it with her Doc Martins. “I guess that’s why you should never put tutubis in a jar,” she said with a smile.
Celeste’s mom called her. She turned to me and said, “Bye. Gotta go. Nice to see you again.” But you know it was just one of those things she always says.
We buried Rey the next day.
There was a heavy downpour as we drove from the chapel to the cemetery.
But as soon as we arrived, the rain stopped.
The ground was muddy and it was slow and slippery walk to where we were going to bury him.
And as were about to lower his casket into the ground, the tutubis started to appear.
Hundreds.
Thousands.
A million tutubis.
They hovered around, zoomed here and there, but they didn’t bother anyone. They just watched over the whole proceedings.
After the casket was lowered and the first shovel-full of dirt was thrown in, the tutubis started to fly away.
chorva!
"Chorva" can be used as:
Noun: "ano" / "kwan" / "or something"
"Ate Glow, kelan yung birthday chorva ni Big Mike?"
"Hoy, Vicky to, whatcha gonna wear ba? The sporty or the chinese chorva mo?"
Adjective: used if you want to be polite.
"Ang chorva naman niyan!"
(So, ano ba? Pangit ba o maganda? Baduy ba or maarte? They will never know what you really mean.)
Verb: can replace any verb
"Chorva lang ng chorva!"
"Chorva" is such an amazing word; it lets you choose your own adventure. At least, you will never be accused of putting words in somebody else's mouth. If you don't have anything to say, or you can't find the right word to say, or you want to say something but you don't know how to say it, just say
CHORVA!
Variations: Chuva, Chenes, Chenelyn

how old am i?
I am 222 months old.
I am 969 weeks old
I am 6,780 days old.
I am 162,731 hours old.
I am 9,763,868 minutes old.
I am 585,832,085 seconds old.
it has been a long run for me, but i haven't tasted the real life yet..
after those units of time..
we will never know what would happen next.
the only thing i can do is wait,
stand still, and get ready for anything life would throw me.
it can be an obstacle, or a break from the civilization.
anything can be done, and anytime, it will end, too.
it's the time's decision, i have nothing to argue with it.
somewhere summer is a welcome sight.
where the air is transfixed by the flight
of fireflies and groves grow
thick with names of sturdy oak and
fragrant pine.
somewhere the word solstice was
invented
people live without moons
in mazes of pines and
underbrush.
new words are invented
to capture how sweeping
cold whiteness a sigh
is caught in mid-air;
how swans crane their
necks
to glimpse the passing sun.
here mosquitoes throw riddles
to the air
and bodies lie sprawled on concrete
and grass
there are no metaphors for
living --
the sun is a bright haze
for us peasant and workers. (we are the lucky ones living i our own detached space uncalloused, pure, with leisure enough to dream and reasons always to be dissatisfied.)
somewhere summer is a welcome sight
where the air is transfixed by the flight
of fireflies and groves grow thick
with names.
swans crane their necks
to glimpse the passing sun.
nothing to undo.
no distances to run.
- Mookie Katigbak (Heights 97'-98')
~ oh well, i really felt the true meaning of 'summer' in this poem. Summer does not only mean "heat", "hot", "beaches" and "recreation."
Summer also means to be free from all the things you have done before this time. Forgetting all the problems, thinking, fantasizing and enjoying. To make the long story short, to be happy with your family and friends.
We also need to focus on ourselves, think of our mistakes and what we need to change. That's why, i guess, there is such thing as a summer vacation. Summer is a time for comfort, for reflection, for bonding.
Summer is a welcome sight on beaches or on resthouses, but it will be more meaningful with your loved ones.
How about you? where is your welcome sight for summer? :)

Mr. Montemayor: (nabigla) Ahh… ok… galing ah. Sige.
Kumatok sya sa tindahan at lumapit ang tindera.
Tindera: Ano po yun?
Mr. Montemayor: Meron ba kayong prepaid internet card?
Maglalako: (sumisigaw) Hoppppp… Hopppp… HopiaManiPopcornDomainNamesatWebHostinggg…
Nasamid si Mr. Montemayor sa kanyang iniinom.
